Black Ruffles

Just a quick post for you guys!

Current outfit I'm liking: Emma Roberts' casual yet cute look at a Sundance interview by MTV this year. Her hair is simple, yet neat, and I can't get enough of that jacket! What do you guys think of this look? Would you wear it?

Current outfit of today: I snapped a super quick picture before I went to work this morning. It's a long sleeved black shirt with a large ruffle detail on the top there. It kind of swirls in to look like a flower (or I think it looks like one, anyway)! I wore it with a pair of simple black dress pants and black patent flats. Nothing too fancy for waitressing!

The shirt is by Joe Fresh

I woke up this morning at 6:40 AM, because Brandon had to start work early. I told myself that I would have a quick little bite to eat (which ended up to be veggies and dip before 7 AM... Interesting), check my favourite blogs, and then sleep for a little bit longer. I ended up munching down my veggies & dip, catching up on every single blog in my "Fashion Blogs" folder online, showering, playing on my laptop some more, and finally getting dressed and having the rest of my breakfsat (which was a Kashi honey flax cereal, delicious). I love waking up early when I have nothing to do that day, because it seems as if they day just slowly goes by. However, the day went by pretty fast until now. It's 7 o'clock, and I am dead tired. Today just feels like it's taking forever now!

Hope you all have a good night!

Sunday Inspiration

1. I have always wanted to go to Paris, and it will always serve as inspiration to me, no matter if it's a Sunday or not! One day, I will be sitting at a coffee shop, sipping on a soy latte during a crisp Parisian afternoon. Of course, it will be followed by shopping & trying to navigate using my tres rusty Francais! 2. Necklaces, necklaces, and more necklaces! I love the idea of layering necklaces, but I never do it myself. Note to self: layer necklaces, especially longer strand ones, because it looks great! 3. This infinity ring is so pretty and delicate! It's like a secret message that you only know about, as no one can see the words hidden inside. 4. Last year the teachers at my highschool wore rain boots all the time. Although none were as stylish as these, I decided that I should get a pair of my own! Unfortunately, I haven't found the perfect pair until now. How cute are these!? Perfect for spring, winter, and fall (and puddle jumping). 5. Chanel. How could anyone not be inspired by Chanel? This jade green has been seen on so many celebrities, and the Jade Rose is just as pretty! I picture this colour in the spring time especially, paired with a whimsical dress and some sandals.

I hope you all had a great weekend! I spent mine working, but I'm not complaining. In the past two afternoons I've made $100.00, and that doesn't include my paycheck! Whether you were working, having fun, relaxing, or whatever, I hope the weekend brought you fun nonetheless!

Celebrity Style: Whitney Port

Whitney Port has made her way to fame by being not only a reality star, but a fashion designer and a style icon as well. Her signature blonde waves are copied by many, and her sense of fashion is copied across the globe. As well as her clothing line, Whitney Eve, she also has a book out! Can you say talented? I first got a sneak peek into her glamorous life via The Hills, where here and her equally stylish friend Lauren Conrad worked together at Teen Vogue. Once Whitney came out with her very own reality show, I was hooked! Fashion and one of my favourite reality stars all in one shot!

In the above pictures, Whitney is wearing a Thierry Mugler dress, earrings by LuLu Frost, and shoes & bag by Giuseppi Zanotti to the People Style Watch's 'A Night of Red Carpet Style' event. Hey Whitney, if you read this and need someone to take that fabulous dress of your hands, drop me a line! I'll gladly take it!

What do you guys think of Whitney's outfit?

Whipped Cream Party

1. Brandon giving me a quizzical look. Why are you taking this picture? Or rather, why am I still good looking even with a goofy expression?

2. A shot of the two of us! We went to my friend Zaira's 19th birthday party last night. It was filled with lots of laughter, loud music, dancing, and piping hot pizza! A couple guys there ordered six or so boxes of Hawaiian and pepperoni pizza for the party guests to munch on... And it was gone within an hour! Either everyone was super hungry & the dancing took a lot out of them, or they couldn't stand the tempting smell of the doughy, cheesy & gooey pizza any longer. I grabbed a slice of Hawaiian for myself & a pepperoni for Brandon. Sorry, no pictures there for you guys to drool over!

3. Before the party I filled up on tea. I put some light whipped topping on the surface to jazz it up a bit, but I can't say it drastically changed the flavour. Nevertheless, it was something other than the usual honey & soy milk, though it would be way better on a hot cup of hot chocolate!

I apologize for such a short/boring post! I was going to post this last night after the party, but we got home late, and we both had to work this morning. So! You guys get it now. I'm thinking about posting something again tonight, but we'll have to wait and see!

To Infinity & Beyond

1. The most comfy slipper like shoes you'll ever place upon your feet (if you buy them, that is. I don't like sharing!). I purchased these at a store called Wall Street for a whopping $13.00! They are made by Roxy, and were originally $30.00 or something like that - I'm glad I grabbed them when I did!

2. Today's outfit, worn with Pashu skinny jeans. This infinity scarf is so warm and cozy! My mom bought it at a SheShe accessory party and so kindly let me borrow it to wear to work today (and around the house, as I am right now). I wore it with a royal blue long sleeve shirt from Smart Set and a striped cardigan from Smart Set as well.

3. My sister and her friend Rachel baked some cookies last night for Rachel's mom's birthday. However, Rachel forgot nearly half of them here (she took some for the gift, left some for us). Lucky for me though, I went for a run yesterday morning (and this morning, as I snuck a cookie when I got home), so I didn't feel too bad about having a cookie or two! They followed a standard chocolate chip recipe, but instead of the regular milk chocolate, they used white chocolate and rainbow chips. Yum!

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday night! My friend is having her 19th birthday party tonight, so I'm wanting to check that out for sure!

Cafe Caravaggio

My outfit today: I opted for something comfortable & cozy seeing as I didn't have any huge plans today. I woke up, went for a shorter run since I had done two longer ones the past two days, and made myself a thick smoothie full of berries! It was delicious :) As I got myself more mobile, I threw on a pair of Pashu skinny jeans (which replaced my current pink sweat pants), a red V-neck from Smart Set and the infamous thrifted grandpa sweater. Once I was all dressed, I decided to go for a walk downtown! This is where I went.

Cafe Caravaggio is a locally owned chocolate & coffee shop downtown. My mom happens to work there, so it gave me all the more reason to pay a visit! Besides, who doesn't love the smell of chocolate tempering, coffee brewing and the sight of homemade truffles? The store also sells fresh fudge, chocolate dipped cookies (my favourite has pistachios in it with white chocolate around the edges), specialty coffees and rents out a chocolate fountain for events & get togethers, as well. In fact, I had a Sex & the City themed girls night a couple months ago and it was a hit!

The pictures above are a few of my favourite things. Torani syrups in the lattes are divine (I recently tried a rooibos tea latte with butterscotch syrup. It was seriously as if my taste buds had died and gone to heaven!), and the truffles are mouth watering and so flavourful! Cafe Caravaggio uses quality chocolate to create these wonderful pieces. A few of my fave chocolates include the fruit and nut medallions (with coconut, slivered almonds, pumpkin seeds & cranberries), and the champagne truffles... That one speaks for itself! However, all the truffles rank high on my list! In addition, their fudge contains whole ingredients, like real cream and butter. My fudge of choice is black forest cake - complete with cherries! It is ooey gooey with the cherry flavour, but rich and scrumptious with the creamy chocolate. Seriously - everything here is to die for!

If you ever make your way to Vancouver Island, check this gem out! I highly recommend it!

Pizza Party!

1. I was reading through a couple food blogs last night (my favourites are Carrots n' Cake and Peanut Butter Fingers!), and I decided that I needed to make a list of things to bake! If you read Cupcakes & Cashmere blog, you will notice that the cheddar dill scones are on there as well - that's where I got it from! I made them before, and they were a total hit for my family! Such a hit that the whole batch was gone in one night.... The recipe made over 25!

2. Homemade pizza night! These nights are my favourite, because we often make pizza that is better than any delivery or frozen concoction. Not to toot my own horn or anything. Tonight, Brandon and I were the pizza masters. He took care of the dough (thin crust, which is my personal choice), and I took care of the toppings and sloppin' on the sauce. I really did slop it on, too.

3. Fixings for the pizza! When it was done baking, it was cut into sections and everyone dived in. It was DELICIOUS!

I have another post for you guys either today or tomorrow. We'll see what pops into my head!

Back in Black

1. Kate Bosworth in a leather topped Chloe dress. When I think of Kate Bosworth I think beach chic - loose wavey hair, oversized shirts, boyfriend jeans... Or an outfit that is prim and proper and very lady like! She is a stunner in this dress. The only thing I would change (if I were to wear the dress) is to wear the hair up. 2. Many Moore in Paule Ka. Now, when I first saw this picture, I didn't even think that it was her! The Princess Diaries & Saved star (should I refer to her as that?) looks so utterly chic it makes me jealous... Of course I am anyway. Look at her shoes! 3. Leighton Meester in Michael Kors. I have seen a few MK designs before, but this is by far one of my favourites. I wonder if the rest of the Project Runway judges would agree! 4. Amy Adams in Andrew Gn. This dress is sweet and sultry with the plunging neckline, short hem, long sleeves & the embellishment around the neckline. Winner!

Movie Mania

1. Cuddling up on the couch with a pillow and a big warm blanket. Yeah, the stripes there belong to my shirt. This morning is comfortable all around. 2. I have been staring at the Blogger screen for a little while now wondering what to write. Finally, my pictures uploaded & I'm scrambling to find something to say. 3. I woke up around 9:04 am today, to be exact, and got ready to go for a run. I ran for half an hour on the treadmill listening to hip hop and upbeat songs to get me going. As soon as Beyonce came on (twice in a row), that just set the stage for me, and I started to work harder. By the end of my work out (which included stretching and some weights), I needed something cool to drink that wasn't just water. So, I made a green monster smoothie! It's a combination of spinach, banana, soy milk, and ice. You honestly can't taste the spinach at all, I promise! The end result is something creamy and banana flavoured with just a hint of green! I added some seeds in there as well to give me something to chew on, but I have a feeling I'll be needing something more in a little bit! 4. Last night's munchies for movie night. Brandon and I ended up watching The Town with Ben Affleck last night. I usually gravitate towards the more chick flick type of movies, but lately I have been craving a good action movie. This one filled that void! It kept me interested, and there was a love story in there as well. Best of both worlds. Note the Cheesies and Sweet & Chili Rice chips: that's why a run was in my future (and because I just wanted to go running)!

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's day one of two off for me, so hopefully something interesting happens either today or tomorrow. Brandon and I are watching The Social Network right now, and so far it's pretty good. Have you guys seen it? What do you think?

Touring Town

1. Details on the gold studded bangle I wore to work today. I'm not exactly sure where it's from, to be honest. My guess is Claires, but I'm probably wrong!

2. Gap sweater, dress by Baila, Joe Fresh black tights.

3. Zipper right down the front! Funny, because the sweater I wore yesterday had a zipper on the back!

4. My favourite store in town is the last sign there. It's the Health Food Store! I bought a bunch of seeds today! Ground chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, and sunflower seeds. Now I just need some natural PB, so I can make some oatmeal! I love me some oats.

5. This little garden area is nestled in behind some of the retail that lines the streets. I worked at a little restaurant back here last summer. It's seasonal, and a lot of people from the theatre would go there for lunch.

6. Entrance to the "Secret Garden," as the sign calls it. Not so secret, though.

7. Details on the candy store's window frame.

8. Hansel & Gretel's Candy Co! It smells divine in here, and it holds lots of yummy sweets!

9. I walked up and down this path a couple times today. First just going for a walk, and the second to drop off a deposit at the bank for work. There is a playground in that shape of a ship to the side, and a stage on the left side that is usually occupied by local musicians in the spring & summer time.

10. Water Wheel Park! Unfortunately the water wheel was OUT of water for the winter (I assume that's why), so the name is somewhat deceiving. Tricky.

I hope you all had a great Tuesday! It's finally my Friday, and I'm so ready for it! Brandon and I are planning on staying in tonight, but I suggested that we rent some movies so our night is at least somewhat exciting! There's also a sticky note on my laptop to remind me to go for a run. I know I definitely have to when I get home (in 20 minutes!) because I skipped out on it yesterday. Fortunately I don't mind running, but last night it just seemed like a chore. That won't be the case tonight!

As you can see, I have a giant nail polish collection! The sad thing is that there are some polishes missing in these pictures. I was going to save this post for tomorrow to give me something to do while I passed time, but I knew that if I uploaded the pictures & didn't have the polishes beside me for names, it would be a little tricky. So! You guys get the post now. I hope you all had a good Monday! My Monday (slash Thursday, as it's almost my weekend) consisted of working for four and a half hours, coming home & having dinner, and getting cozy on the couch. Not bad, but not the best night I've ever had! Oh well. Fun will come soon enough.
