Steel Magnolias

Friday night = Theatre night! My friend Anna and I went to see Steel Magnolias at the Chemainus Theatre here in town. It was full of laughter & tears. I enjoyed it a lot, and should've listened to my mom when she told me to bring some tissues! It takes place in a beauty salon, and if you were a Britney Spears fan like me, you'll know that it was her favourite movie (why do I still remember this!?).

Of course, I have to have a mini photo shoot with myself (alone, duh) before I go anywhere. Don't you guys do that too?

Nail polish: Naked by China Glaze (seen in this beauty haul post), shoes by Spring Shoes.
Cute, but deadly when you tie them a little too tight... Oops!

Hope your day was fabulous, blog friends!

The Flowering Tree Natural Spa: 7 Year Anniversary!

The lovely Freda & I giggling away!

Pure Anada mineral make up from Manitoba! I bought a HOT PINK lip gloss called Pink Orchid.

Make up station - we had make up demonstrations, as well as spa demonstrations (such as scrubs and exfoliators, moisturizers, skin care, etc.)!

Products & potions! We feature three lines at the spa: Sea Flora (seaweed based) from Sooke, British Columbia , Silk Road (gentle and tea-based) from Victoria, British Columbia, and Purity Cosmetics/100% Pure (fruit based) from Californ-I-A!

Mixing up some facial scrubs and oils for demos!

Grape drank. Just kidding. Blueberry juice! It's full of poly phenols (antioxidants). It was so yummy!

A couple of prizes we gave away! Pedi buff, choice of facial, four goody bags with different products inside, lip glosses & samples of product when you spent $25.00.

Pretty flowers! :)

This ruffled one-shoulder dress was a good idea up until it started to pour with rain on my way to the spa. Fortunately I was inside for the duration of set up-open house-clean up, so I stayed warm and cozy (and dry)!

Goofing around at home after the open house. I call this the ultimate duck face (aka I'm so cool and bombard you with strange pictures of myself). You think this one is weird? Look below.

"I looooove my blog friends!" Hehe. You're welcome.

I hope you are all having a wonderful week! :)

Spring Fling

Painting my nails in Spring-esque colours, blue toes, bathroom photo shoots, tons of blossoms outside, looking down at my Spring outfit!, photo shoots in my car, sunny day while driving (don't worry, I had only just pulled out of my driveway), yummy chocolates at my mom's work (I brought us wonton soup & we ate it at the chocolate factory), more beautiful blossoms, factory signs & chocolate dipped pretzels.

I was super excited this morning when I saw the sun shining brightly. It was the perfect addition to my run this morning. I did a loop that went along the main road in town, then cut down by the harbour & the beach. I took the time to stop at the beach entrance and stretch, enjoy the sun, and look out at the water before I continued on my journey home. There's something (for me anyway) about running in the sun that makes me feel so grateful for everything I have. Also, the fact that I can now pull out my dresses (I need more!!!) is something I'm thankful for as well!

I hope you all had a wonderful Wednesday!

Glitz & Glam

1. Picture from Fabsugar.com I love the look of sequin dresses and saw a poll on Fabsugar asking the readers how the felt about the glitzy mini dresses. What do you guys think? I think sequins are a fun way to dress up without having to actually dress up. The good thing about an item such as a sequin dress is that you can keep your accessories simple, maybe a pair of earrings or some chunky bangles at the most. The sequins take the spotlight on this one!

2. Brenda Song wearing a dress by Griffin. I love the longer piece in the back. It reminds me of tails on a tuxedo jacket! Also, the shorter length with the higher neckline makes it classy, not trashy.

3. Kristen Stewart in Reem Acra. I'm not a huge fan of K. Stewart acting wise, but I definitely love her dress! Now don't get me wrong. It's wonderful that the Twilight saga has made it so big. I'm sure the author is pretty thrilled with that. However, I read one book and that was it for me. It didn't hold my attention as much, but K. Stewart's dress is eye catching for me!

What are your Saturday plans? I haven't heard of anything too exciting, but who knows what will pop up tonight! Today was my second day at my new job at the restaurant. I made close to $50.00 in tips just around lunch time! My shift went by so fast too, and I kept myself busy as well (and was busy anyway serving tables). I'm getting the hang of things so far, but I still have another training shift next week, and work at the spa on Tuesday. The week doesn't look too crammed as far as plans go, but you never know what will come up!

I hope you all had a happy Saturday!

Ladylike

1. Quilted clutch, Forever 21, $24.80

2. Puff sleeve dress, Forever 21, $22.80

3. Silver and pearl bracelets, Forever 21, $10.80

4. Nude patent oxfords, Forever 21, $17.80

5. Sheer floral tunic, Forever 21, $17.80

As I was browsing one of my favourite (and affordable!) websites, I got an idea for a blog post. All of these items are so lady like and so perfect for the upcoming spring season. Although spring is calling for neutrals and a minimal approach when it comes to colours, the nude oxfords and feminine bracelets can accessorize anything and bring a personal twist to those neutral hues. I especially like the quilted purse - it will fill the void of a designer quilted purse, until that day comes! In addition, the puff sleeve dress would look good with any of these items. Accessorize it with the casual oxfords and a cardigan for day, then slip on a pair of strappy heels and pile on the bracelets for some added evening glamour. All of this online browsing is making me want to shop!

The City of the Pretty

1. The girls of The City sure like their dresses. Glitzy, glamorous, and with a short hem line, too! Nevertheless, the girls pull it off with California flare. I especially love Audrina's rose coloured sequin number!

2. Okay, although the girls look great here, I can't help but think of a ladybug when I see Whitney's dress. I love how she paired it with opaque black tights and black boots though - the dark combination makes her already long legs look like they go on forever, and Lauren looks like a Greek goddess! Plus: Great shoes all around!

3. Think pink! Whitney's hot pink dress and smokey eye makes her look like a blonde bombshell! I love the ruffles on the front of Lauren's dress as well, and Audrina, are you wearing the same shoes as in picture two? Regardless! I would love a pair of gold heels like that.

4. Front row at the show, of course! From floaty to maxi to strapless and... Brody? The girls opt for stylish options no matter where they go, and of course they would for a fashion show! My favourite of this picture: Whitney's feminine and fluttery dress. Yeah, I'm team Whitney.

I'm also team CANADA! I'm sitting on the couch scouring fashion blogs while the Canadian Jr. game plays in the background. My mom's Facebook status (it's becoming the norm these days for parents to have Facebook. Apparently my dad is out of the loop): "The house has hockey fever!"

Have a fabulous night everyone! I'm debating whether I should jam on the gym tonight due to a headache, but I'm sure I will feel a lot better if I JUST DO IT and go to bed early! In addition, I was called into work tomorrow for a 12:30 start - YES, I can sleep in and hopefully sleep off this cold that is plaguing me!

Aah tea time! I need all the liquid I can get!

Bisous!

November 11th

Both dresses are from Forever 21. I want these. A lot.
I also just devoured a bowl of cucumbers. The good thing about veggies is that you can eat LOTS and not feel guilty!
