LG Fashion Week Review: Attitude for Sears by Jay Manuel

LG Fashion Week
Attitude for Sears by Jay Manuel

“The America’s Next Top Model mentor and judge hit it out of the ball park for a second season in a row.” The Montreal Gazette (montrealgazette.com) claimed. The Montreal Gazette was pleased with how Manuel “followed all of the preliminary trends laid out in this season’s previous fashion weeks, from New York Fashion to Paris.” Similarly, Toronto Life magazine thought that the Attitude for Sears collection was “a major turn for Manuel…who sent out a collection of separates that most women would gladly buy for the office.” The added bonus is the price point of the collection. With pieces ranging from $13--$229, it is an accessible line for every women looking for a piece of the designer pie.

I enjoyed the way Jay Manuel incorporated resort pieces such as capris, sleeveless blouses and loose knits. In addition, the playful patterns and bright colours brought a true sense of the spring season to this collection. While the fun colours and patterns were in full force, I felt there was a nice balance of neutrals and safari-inspired accessories such as straw hats, scarves, and feather earrings. In my opinion, the Attitude for Sears collection by Jay Manuel is functional and diverse. It is worldly and incorporates fashionable features from countries all over the world, such as tribal prints and colours like bright fuchsia and deep terra cotta. I could instantly figure out the story behind this collection, and I thought it was a fun way to present an affordable and stylish line.

There are so many wearable and versatile pieces in this collection. I think that’s what makes it so great and functional for every woman. I have seen fashion bloggers such as Alicia Quan from aliciafashionista.com and the team at thestylespy.com in Attitude pieces already. My first pick is a coral shift dress. It is a perfect transitional piece from spring to summer, and it can be paired with classic white pieces and dressed up for evening. Young women and mature women alike would suit this dress, as it is a wardrobe classic for any age. In addition, Jay Manuel’s snake printed blouse is timeless as well. I have seen many snake skin pieces for spring/summer 2012. However, none have been sheer with subtle hints of pink, white trim and button details. A piece like this is perfect for the party girl who loves to have fun with prints. It is also appropriate for a mature business woman looking to add a pop of texture under a blazer for a chic office look. Furthermore, a wide leg white trouser is always a classic. White has been a hot colour on the runways this season, and Attitude for Sears by Jay Manuel hit the mark with his white pieces. A trouser-meets-track suit pant is flattering for all body types since it does not cling and hug the leg the way a skinny trouser would. Fortunately this white trouser is not only on trend, but it is an affordable addition to any women’s wardrobe and will be in style for many springs to come! Furthermore, the pieces in Attitude for Sears by Jay Manuel can transcend to the closets of all women. He makes it easy for a woman to look amazing and feel great. Best of all? He does all of this without making us break the bank!
