Style Icon: Olivia Palermo

Feathurs, fur, leather, lace, bib necklaces, black, leopard (and the list goes on): Olivia Palermo does it all, and she does it well. I love Olivia's style and the different elements she mixes to create her outfits. There is nothing like a bit of texture or a splash of colour to add visual interest to an ensemble. Although I haven't seen Olivia much on the television (big screen or small screen), she is constantly popping up on various style/fashion websites and praised for her chic sense of style. Olivia Palermo is definitely a style icon I look to for inspiration, especially for accessories. Likewise, she is always on top of the latest trends, whether it's fur, skinny jeans, or some kind of funky jewelry piece. I would be a happy girl to have her closet!

Spot Light: Hunter Rain Boots

Whether you like it or not, with fall comes the rain. However, there are several stylish options that will keep your feet dry without compromising style. I decided to feature Hunter rainboots, not only because they are on my own wishlist, but because they have a huge celebrity following & are practical as well!

Now that I have moved to Vancouver, the ever-changing weather outside is a constant reminder that sooner or later, it's going to get rainy. As I walked to the bus stop this morning in my grey wedge booties, I couldn't help but think of the Hunter rain boots I drooled over many times at Holt Renfrew. Although the price tag is a little steep (the original Hunter boots start at $150.00 and go upwards from there, depending on the style of boot and whether it is a limited edition/collaboration product), it's hard to think that these would be anything but useful. What do you think? Should I bite the bullet & get a pair of my own?

Crazy for McQueen

There is no doubt that Alexander McQueen is a fashion legend. As I was perusing McQueen's Facebook page, I spotted these looks worn by some of my favourite celebrities. The fact that Drake (whom I love) is wearing McQueen (whom I also love) is a #winning (Charlie Sheen reference, anyone?) situation in my eyes, and check out the colour on Mila's red boustier maxi (the sweetheart neckline doesn't hurt either). Now, if only I had some McQueen in MY closet!

Celebrity Style: Florence Welch

Florence & the Machine first popped on my radar when I heard my sister blasting their music from her lap top. Months and months later, I am bobbing my head to their CD & I look towards front-runner Florence Welch for fashion inspiration. Whether she's channeling her lady-like side with bright floral pieces or dressing down in chic blazers and lace, she always does it with style. It's a plus that she looks so great with that fire-coloured mane of hers, too! Not sure if I'd go as far as dyeing my hair to find my inner Florence Welch, but some black lace pieces and menswear inspired items will do!

Celebrity Trend: The little WHITE dress

Rachel McAdams & Owen Wilson keep things crisp in matching white outfits. Owen, props on the pop of colour with your shirt, and I am loving the ruffle and flower detailing on Rachel's dress!

Rihanna and Leighton keep things white hot - cut outs, short hem lines & sequins create a nice twist.

I can definitely see myself sporting a fun, white dress like this at the beach this summer. I wouldn't mind those shoes either, Kristin!

Lauren Conrad is pretty and polished in her little white dress with lace detailing.

Selena Gomez pairs her white mini with some chic nude pumps - way to make them legs look longer, girl!

White dresses come in all sorts of lengths - maxi, mini, midi, and they all look fabulous!

Celebrity Trends: Stripes!

Ashley Tisdale steps out looking super cute in her sunny nautical stripes & cut off denim shorts. 

Celebrities everywhere are embracing the stripes! Red stripes, blue stripes, green stripes, black stripes... Check out the jean varieties here too - flared, cropped, skinny, boyfriend fit. Chic & cool!

Lauren Conrad keeps it cute and cool in a simple pair of flip flops paired with a chic brown Miu Miu bag and a floaty striped top. 

Whitney Port is an expert at mixing prints - stripes and plaid have never looked better, especially paired with some studded heels, black tights & a classic Chanel bag.

The Olsens

 

The Olsen twins have been style icons for what seems like ages now. From their Full House moments to their sense of style, they have made a name for themselves (as well as plenty of movies & a couple clothing lines). Mary-Kate & Ashley continue to inspire their fans with oversized clothes, fuss-free hair, cool accessories & chic statement pieces, such as shoes and bags. Do you look towards the Olsen twins for style? Which one do you relate to the most?

Gossip Girls

Gossip Girl has been known not only for the drama and love triangles between characters, but also for the fashion. Although I am not a religious watcher, the times I have seen the show, I have always been mesmerized by their clothing. Even Serena (who I don't exactly care for) has some pretty killer outfits. The next few pictures feature some snap shots from tonight's episode. Note: Fashion spoilers in 3, 2, 1...

One of my favourite things about Blair's style is the effortless lady like details and feminine touches that go into each outfit. Gold buckles on her shoes? Check. Pattern tights? Check. Floaty blouses & printed skirts? Check, check. Working these aspects into my OWN wardrobe? Working on it.

Stunning and elegant, with a new twist on the little black dress: the little RED dress. New York Fashion week this year was filled with pops of red and magenta hues, and it looks as if the stylists over at Gossip Girl got the hint as well.
