Stripe City

Hiya, folks! How's your Tuesday been? It's almost Hump Day (you know, because Wednesday is the hump in the week we have to overcome, DUH). This morning I picked out a great outfit - I had a cute floral shirt, a cream coloured cardigan I borrowed (or rather took without asking...) from my sister, some cuffed skinny jeans & embellished flats. HOWEVER (this is the big part) - as soon as I put on the outfit, I couldn't find a flattering angle without having to hold pieces of my clothing. You know your outfit isn't right when you have to do that, or when you look at yourself IN the clothes and think, wow, I look like a whale. It just was NOT my day!

So, that's where this outfit was born. Not the outfit I had dreamed up before, but I felt cute in it & it works.
Outfit: Pure by Alfred Sung shirt, H&M scarf, Pashu skinny jeans & I wore embellished flats by Spring Shoes (not pictured).

And the pictures above: I picked up some essentials last night (as well as some kale, but that went unnoticed and into ma bellay), as well as some not-so essentials (eg, the nail polish, but it's on my toes now so it must've been a good investment)! I found some nail polish remover in my room the other day, and I'm almost positive it's a cheap dollar store brand. It barely dissolves the polish and makes it all gooey and gummy and any kind of cotton ball/pad, even tissue paper, crumbles apart - ergo why I bought some good ol' Wallyworld polish remover. Oh, and the toothbrush and pit stick is so I don't stink/stay so fresh, so clean ;) I mean, you can't be fashionable and smell like a dumpster.

Have a fabulous evening everyone! B & I are off to dinner tonight. Where? We're not too sure. Stay tuned!

PS. The dinner up there is a whole wheat flax seed bun with homemade Manhattan clam chowder & sauteed kale. Omg, so good. I made extra kale & threw it in my lunch time salad today!

Spring Stripes

I realized the other day that the majority of my lounging clothes are pink. Pink sweatpants, pink zip up sweaters, pink striped shirts/pink shirts, as well as a fuzzy pink house coat. What is it about the colour pink? For me, I suppose it's because it's so bright and cheery. Plus, today marks the first day of spring, and I am typing this wearing my pink pajama pants (I know they are kinda bunched up in that last picture. I swear I'm a girl). Oh, and I celebrated by buying a pink shirt yesterday. I don't know when to say no!

Today is my day off - so far, I have spent the morning laying in bed, drinking earl gray tea with almond milk, aaaand... Sitting on my tookus. It's rainy and yucky outside, so who knows if anything will happen. Why is it that days off always fall on days where it's gloomy, and work days are always sunny days? They've got it all backwards!

I hope you all enjoy your Monday, work or no work. Make the best of it! :)

Shopping haul: pictures!

1. Snacks for the road. Yes, I'm the girl that brings veggies along with me while I go shopping by myself.

2. I made a stop at Starbucks and replaced the water in my cup (which I downed in no time at al) with a tall soy latte with a shot of sugar free vanilla syrup. I also picked up the low fat (not so low in my opinion... 8 grams still? Come on, Starbucks) banana bread slice with mini chocolate chips on top (okay, now it's not so healthy) and walnuts (redemption?).

3. I spent a good hour sitting on the floor in front of the fashion section at Chapters. I tried to take a picture of myself sitting there... all alone... and of course someone walked by at that moment. Make yourself seem like a vain & insane idiot? Check!

4. An artsy snap shot. I'm so clever.

5. I ended up coming home with Whitney Port's new book! I have skimmed through it briefly now, but it looks great! Lots of fashion tips, but also pointers for throwing a perfect party, healthy eating & fitness, and tons of other topics.

6. Scott Schuman takes a mean photo, and I was so inspired when I was flipping through his book! It's amazing to see what people wear and pull off so well!

7. Remember these babies from my Currently Craving list? Yeah, someone returned them after ordering them online, and they were the last pair and also happened to be in my size! OH, and they were an additional 50% off the clearance price. Scoooore!

8. I also purchased these super cute boots (also 50% off clearance price). They have a wedge heel and look like a men's work boot, but obviously they are way cuter. They toughen up any outfit, and they are so comfortable too!

9. Outfit of the day! Apparently I deleted the pictures of the shirts I bought (whoopsies), but here is one of them (the other is the same, just pink & gray).

10. Making a goofy face for all of you! Pure by Alfred Sung long sleeve shirt, gifted scarf, Pashu skinny jeans, Spring Shoes wedge boots.

And more good news: I got a raise at work! This calls for a cosmopolitan. Or maybe not, because I have been eating so healthy today! What do you guys think?
