Holiday Sparkle: Shoes

Retailers are already putting out their Christmas merchandise, and Holiday themed display windows are popping up as well. When I think of Christmas, besides the standard green and red, I also think of colours such as gold and silver. Likewise, SEQUINS and GLITTER soon follow! There is nothing better than adding some shimmer to your Holiday outfit, so in the Holiday Sparkle series I will post for you glitter-covered ideas to help inspire your Holiday ensembles!

1. The classic pump, but with a twist - finding shoes with cap toes in a metallic finish will instantly add glam to your outfit. I love the pointed toes with gold caps. When I spotted these Christian Louboutin's online, I definitely thought of Christmas! However, Louboutin isn't the only one creating these capped pumps. You can find them in almost any shoe store for a fraction of the cost!

2. Glitter oxfords & smoking slippers (not pictured, but you can find them in this post). I have seen these EVERYWHERE this fall! From Aldo & Spring to Browns & Holt Renfrew, you will have no problem finding these trendy shoes in glittery finishes. Plus, you may even be able to save them for spring!

3. Glitter flats - One thing I love about flats is how you can find them in any colour, pattern, and texture. They are less dangerous in snow than their higher counterparts, the stiletto, but your feet will still look Holiday pretty while being comfortable, too! It is a winning combination. Like the glitter oxfords & smoking slippers, sparkly flats have been in numerous stores throughout the fall season. I recently spotted a dusty gold pair at Winners with very fine grains of glitter to polish them off. I would highly recommend checking out your favourite shoe store for glitter flats; you are bound to find them!

4. Glitter heels - Tall, small, kitten heels, booties, you name it. Heels glitter heels are a festive and fun addition to your Holiday outfit. You can find them in many colours, and the glitter itself can be found in a variety of textures. Personally, I would like to find a lower glitter heel to keep it work & school appropriate. As much as I love towering stilettos, the practical girl inside is telling me no!

Are you a pointed toe heels, flats, or oxfords kind of gal?

A Date With: My Sister

Dress by Costa Blanca, sandals by Spring Shoes, purse by Kensie Girl (not that you can see it!)

Patio seating at The Cactus Club! Perfect spot to dine in the sunshine!

My lovely sister, Sarah.

Yes, I take weird pictures in public too. What a treat for my family/friends/Brandon.

No dinner is complete without a dessert. For us, it meant Starbucks! I also bought Sarah a double chocolate chunk cookie, because she's the bomb dot com.

I am so lucky to live in a place near the ocean. I mean, what a beautiful sight while driving home from a delicious dinner in the sun! It was a wonderful day!

Steel Magnolias

Friday night = Theatre night! My friend Anna and I went to see Steel Magnolias at the Chemainus Theatre here in town. It was full of laughter & tears. I enjoyed it a lot, and should've listened to my mom when she told me to bring some tissues! It takes place in a beauty salon, and if you were a Britney Spears fan like me, you'll know that it was her favourite movie (why do I still remember this!?).

Of course, I have to have a mini photo shoot with myself (alone, duh) before I go anywhere. Don't you guys do that too?

Nail polish: Naked by China Glaze (seen in this beauty haul post), shoes by Spring Shoes.
Cute, but deadly when you tie them a little too tight... Oops!

Hope your day was fabulous, blog friends!

Just Belt It!

Alright guys, here's yesterday's outfit! You might be bombarded by posts today if I decide to put up today's outfit as well (not that you want to see my current pink sweatpants & racerback tank top). Anyway! I wanted something comfortable, yet cute at the same time to wear to work yesterday. So, this is what I came up with!
I'm wearing a purple dress by Vera Moda, plain black leggings from Wal-Mart (not warm enough for bare legs - dang it!), wedge boots from Spring Shoes, vintage belt & bow necklace from CostaBlanca.

I hope you all are enjoying your Thursday! I started off my morning with a run (what a surprise) before the sun came up. Now, I'm blogging & taking it easy before I have to change for work! What to wear, what to wear...

Shopping haul: pictures!

1. Snacks for the road. Yes, I'm the girl that brings veggies along with me while I go shopping by myself.

2. I made a stop at Starbucks and replaced the water in my cup (which I downed in no time at al) with a tall soy latte with a shot of sugar free vanilla syrup. I also picked up the low fat (not so low in my opinion... 8 grams still? Come on, Starbucks) banana bread slice with mini chocolate chips on top (okay, now it's not so healthy) and walnuts (redemption?).

3. I spent a good hour sitting on the floor in front of the fashion section at Chapters. I tried to take a picture of myself sitting there... all alone... and of course someone walked by at that moment. Make yourself seem like a vain & insane idiot? Check!

4. An artsy snap shot. I'm so clever.

5. I ended up coming home with Whitney Port's new book! I have skimmed through it briefly now, but it looks great! Lots of fashion tips, but also pointers for throwing a perfect party, healthy eating & fitness, and tons of other topics.

6. Scott Schuman takes a mean photo, and I was so inspired when I was flipping through his book! It's amazing to see what people wear and pull off so well!

7. Remember these babies from my Currently Craving list? Yeah, someone returned them after ordering them online, and they were the last pair and also happened to be in my size! OH, and they were an additional 50% off the clearance price. Scoooore!

8. I also purchased these super cute boots (also 50% off clearance price). They have a wedge heel and look like a men's work boot, but obviously they are way cuter. They toughen up any outfit, and they are so comfortable too!

9. Outfit of the day! Apparently I deleted the pictures of the shirts I bought (whoopsies), but here is one of them (the other is the same, just pink & gray).

10. Making a goofy face for all of you! Pure by Alfred Sung long sleeve shirt, gifted scarf, Pashu skinny jeans, Spring Shoes wedge boots.

And more good news: I got a raise at work! This calls for a cosmopolitan. Or maybe not, because I have been eating so healthy today! What do you guys think?

Currently Craving

5 things I'm currently lusting over:
- Shoes from the Spring Shoes sales event. I hope it lasts for a little while, because I seriously want to go. I have some birthday + tip money, and I think I deserve some new shoes. Scratch that. A shoe shopping spree.
- A bouquet of flowers - just because. Maybe I'll redo my room and add some floral touches a la Cupcakes & Cashmere.
- Summer time/a vacation. I think EVERYONE feels like they always need a vacation though. Perhaps I'll have to start looking up flights & vacation prices...

Hope you're all having a stellar Saturday night! If you're out having fun, have fun for me. I apologize for the short post. I am fresh out of new pictures on my camera, and I am working this weekend. Hopefully something fun will pop up tomorrow after work!

Chains, Zippers & Olives

I introduce to you all... The olive printed shirt! My sister originally found this at the local thrift store in town. You'd be amazed at what you can find! It is by Mexx, and would retail for more than $2.00, which is probably what my sister paid for this! I love how the fabric is sheer, whimsical, and has just the right amount of movement. It makes you feel like you are wearing a floaty pajama top... With olives on it.

My mom suggested that I needed to wear colourful shoes with my outfit. I was eyeing up a pair of old, red ballet flats, but then I remembered I had these shoes! I had bought them at Spring Shoes for something like $30.00, so they were a great steal - half price! The zipper detailing is super cute, and the best part is that the zippers actually work! They don't do anything and are simply there for style, but I thought that was an interesting (and pointless) feature. Last night was only the second time I've worn these shoes, and the soles are a tad bit slippery because of that fact. Nevertheless, they worked!

I wore my hair in a simply high, messy bun with my bangs sweeped back. For my make up, I recreated a brown and gray smokey eye in my kind of way - easy and fuss free, since I am not the best at my make up! You can't exactly see my make up in this picture, and no matter how hard I tried to snap a blog-appropriate picture of the brown and gray hues, it just wasn't working for me. Oh well. That's how the cookie crumbles.

The olive bunches up close. Now, I'm not exactly sure if they meant for the print to look like olives, but really. What did you guys think when you first saw the print? Exactly. Olives forever!

Last three pictures:

1. This is half of the outfit I wore for work today. I am by myself, so I wanted something fuss free! You can't see it in the picture that well (if at all), but my cardigan has thick purple and black stripes on it. I haven't worn it in a while, and I am just discovering all over again how cozy it is!

2. Me so sleepy! Under my cardigan is a simple oversized white T-shirt with a little pocket on the left side. I sometimes wear it to bed, because it's one of those items that you could literally live in without feeling restricted. You can also dress up a white T if you chose to, or you could make it more casual. It's a versatile piece & a great staple in EVERYONE'S wardrobe (yes, even you men!)

3. These are actually two different necklaces with lots of chain strands on them. I think it adds a little more interest to an otherwise plain white T-shirt! Besides, I think layering necklaces makes it edgy in a girly way, if you know what I mean!

Outfit one: Thrifted Mexx shirt, Pashu jeans (not pictured), black tank top from Walmart (yeah, Wally-world!), purple zipper pumps by Spring Shoes.

Outfit two: Oversized white T from Walmart, purple and black striped cardigan by Urban Behavior, Pashu skinny jeans (not pictured), both chain necklaces by Smart Set.

Now, I didn't take too many pictures from last night, because we were all playing games and whatnot (well, I mostly watched since it was Harry Potter Scene-It and Friends Scene-It, both of which I'm not too well educated on!) but I will post of the ones I did take later! I don't want this post to get too long and have you guys get exhausted and overwhelmed with all the reading!

Happy Tuesday!

Holly xoxo
