Carrie On

I am a huge Sex & the City fan as you probably know. I own the book, both movies, and every single episode from each season. I thought it would be fun to do some Polyvore collages inspired by the characters. First, I'm starting with Carrie. Her style throughout the seasons has changed so much. If you watch SATC, you'll notice how funky/eclectic and WEIRD some of her outfits were during the first few seasons. As a viewer, it's cool to see the style of each character evolve. Does anyone remember when Carrie would always wear backless shirts with ridiculously bright bras? Or that one outfit (during her time dating Aidan) where she had random braids in her hair and an old leather vest (of course with barely anything underneath)? How hippie chic. Ooh, I'm glad those days are over. Nevertheless, I am impressed with how Carrie's style has changed. She is a true icon, and so is Sarah Jessica Parker! Check out the outfit I created inspired by Miss Bradshaw.

Heel Heaven: Jimmy Choo

If you are a shoe-fiend like myself, you probably have an undying love for Jimmy Choo. I was first introduced to the iconic name while watching Sex & the City. Throughout the seasons, we saw Carrie Bradshaw fall in love with Jimmy Choos, and her character wore some of the most famous (and now iconic) shapes and styles. I imagine heel heaven is filled with Choos!

The Choo's Carrie lost while running to catch a ferry in season 3. The famous quote, "I lost my Choo!" comes from this episode (and then she is saved by the Politician, who she starts to date later on).

You can find the iconic Sex & the City Marlene shoe here!

Life Lately

Just a few thoughts (kind of?) in the form of photos for you! Such as, how do I get the perfect ballerina bun? Perhaps less layers in my hair would help be achieve this. Or, how do I get such a gorgeous brick-walled apartment when I'm not even 20? Also, check out how beautiful the leaves are this time of year. I snapped this on my way into Oakridge Centre the other day when I was doing some shopping/picking up groceries (this time the groceries prevailed (mostly) & I only bought nail polish...hehe). Along with fall, however, comes the rain. Sometimes you can't help but love the rain, though! And finally my favourite show, one of my favourite designers & my ultimate favourite television character - Sex & the City, Chanel & Carrie Bradshaw. It's amazing how influential a television show can be, but really, it IS fabulous!

Just a few jumbled thoughts lately. I spent the weekend on the island with my family, and it was so great to see everyone again. It's wonderful how you can go back home for a little "vacation," and still have a home-like place to go back to. Plus, I have tons of stuff to take back with me - groceries, cook books, cool mugs, etc. It has been a fun learning experience living on my own, that's for sure. I suppose it's all about adapting and changing and transforming and it's all quite great. It's life!

Have you seen my latest post about Sarah Jessica Parker?

Hope your weekend has been lovely! Make sure you catch up on some of my recent posts this week:

Lazy Days

Thursday, Thursday - nearly the end of the week, but not quite. There are still two days I need to power through until it's MY end of the week. However, I was lucky enough to have this lovely Thursday off. I made myself a to-do list to complete, and I can confidently say I only have one more thing to check off. The pictures above show what my day has been (and I'll tell you other parts that went unpictured).

I started off my day with an Irish Creme latte at my mom's work. I nestled in at the back of the cafe, found a newspaper and began reading. Have you ever taken the time to actually read the newspaper? It's amazing, yet sad, what happens in this world. In addition, I also got to taste test some gummy bears and a few jelly beans. That was great fuel for a quick 4K run!

After running a couple errands (such as grabbing the BF and I an iced coffee from McDonalds - don't knock it till you try it, $1.00 any size, all summer -  pumping up my tires, where I accidentally slammed the ends of a few strands of hair in the door - it wasn't ridiculously painful, but still a little ouchy!, dropping clothing off at the thrift store, things like that), I made my younger cousin Owen a birthday card, conjured up a giant salad (unpictured), and curled up in bed to blog, paint my fingers & toes, burn cd's & take a break for some cantaloupe and banana. Delicious, and I am sufficiently full from all the nutrients today! That book there is the last thing I have to check off my to-do list. I plan on puttering away at it some more!

Not too exciting, but not too shabby either. It's sunny and pretty clear outside, so that makes it all better too.

How's your Thursday been?

Early Festivities

I apologize for no updates yesterday! I had a half day at work, then went to my best friend Lauren's house for an early birthday celebration/visit since she is home from reading break. Here are a few pictures from yesterday...

1. Around 9:00 am yesterday there was tons of snow. All of a sudden flurries were falling from the sky, and this was the view from inside my car window while I was going to work (prior to driving).

2. This was yesterday as well. I know posting about the weather is super boring, but the weather in British Columbia is super crazy. Snow, rain, gloomy & a little bit of sun (that didn't last long at all).

3. Lauren made a delicious dinner for us last night! Rice, veggie meat balls & veggies in marinara sauce. It's basically our go-to dinner (and it alternates between bagels and last night's cheese scone on the side).

4. Before dinner we began our Sex & the City marathon. We made it through the first season last night in between chit chatting and getting dinner. Note: we also gorged on chips, candy & washed it down with strawberry soy milk. Heaven!

5. Present time! I got a fabulous picture of Marilyn Monroe that I need to frame ASAP, and she also got me a mini martini shaker, cosmopolitan mix, sugar for the rim & little olive picks. The martini shaker is pink and sparkly. How much better does it get?

I hope you all are having a good week! I have a day off tomorrow, but then it's back to work Sunday and it looks like next week is getting busy as well. So much work, so little time (or so it feels like).

Also: A question for you Vancouver readers. Which area is the best to live & not a bad commute from downtown? I'm looking into moving to Vancouver for school in the fall, but I need to find a place!

Holly, xoxo

P.S. My birthday is in four days! 19, here I come!

"I like my money where I can see it - hanging in my closet."

If you know me, you know that I love anything girly and dainty. Above are a few things that I think are absolutely adorable! Pony hair bags, PINK! in any shade, leopard print anything, and bows, bows, bows. I can't get enough!
I hope you are all having a wonderful Tuesday! Usually my work is closed Mondays, but I had to work yesterday, and it has thrown me off my routine! I feel like it should be Thursday tomorrow, but of course, it's only Wednesday. Oh well. One more day closer to Christmas!
Have a fabulous night everyone!
Love, Holly!

"Suddenly, I felt like I was wearing patchouli in a room full of Chanel."

1. Sex & the City marathons.
2. My new purse. Drool.
3. Glamorous tortoise and a cross - I'm not religious, but I have faith!
4. My best friend Lauren & I! That night was filled with fun, friends, and yummy beverages all around... :)
5. Me!*
* I'll have you know that I wear this plaid shirt QUITE often. It is everything - cheap (it's a thrift store find), comfortable, cozy, perfect for this weather... I could go on and on. I pretty much live in it.
I am enjoying my time with family and friends as it nears Christmas. So much to do, so little time! Actually, that's a lie because I basically have everything, although I feel as if I need to buy my boyfriend another gift or two. We will have to see what the week brings, besides WORK and baking some chocolate candy cane cookies (pictures to follow when this adventure commences)!
Have a wonderful night everyone!
Love, Holly!
