Inspired by: The Olsens

The Olsen twins are the "it" twins in the fashion world. They are constantly being photographed front row at major fashion shows such as Chanel, and they even brush shoulders with the man behind the tweed jackets, Karl Lagerfeld. Mary Kate & Ashley have been in the spotlight ever since they were young. From Full House to their own independent movies (remember It Takes Two & Double, Double, Toil & Trouble?) and attending fashion shows to creating their own labels, The Olsens are a dynamic duo with the fashion sense to match. I mean, we can't exactly credit anyone else but Mary Kate for hobo-chic (back in her skin & bones days), can we? Nevertheless, I saw this photo and decided to create a Polyvore collage based on their front row looks. Check it out below!

Carrie On

I am a huge Sex & the City fan as you probably know. I own the book, both movies, and every single episode from each season. I thought it would be fun to do some Polyvore collages inspired by the characters. First, I'm starting with Carrie. Her style throughout the seasons has changed so much. If you watch SATC, you'll notice how funky/eclectic and WEIRD some of her outfits were during the first few seasons. As a viewer, it's cool to see the style of each character evolve. Does anyone remember when Carrie would always wear backless shirts with ridiculously bright bras? Or that one outfit (during her time dating Aidan) where she had random braids in her hair and an old leather vest (of course with barely anything underneath)? How hippie chic. Ooh, I'm glad those days are over. Nevertheless, I am impressed with how Carrie's style has changed. She is a true icon, and so is Sarah Jessica Parker! Check out the outfit I created inspired by Miss Bradshaw.

Summer Essentials

Although summer feels like a decade away, I took it upon myself to give you all some summer inspiration (you're welcome). Every suummer that rolls around I have several things on my "must have" list. It almost always includes a new pair (or two) of footwear, as well as various trending items. Since it's nearly time to put away our cold weather gear for a few seasons, I wanted to share with you the top ten items that make up my summer essentials list.

1. "Perfect ex-boyfriend shirt", Madewell, $59
2. Denim shorts, H&M, $24
3. Pink cord shorts, General Pants, $80
4. Yellow summer dress, Ally Fashion
5. Straw fedora hat, Wet Seal, $10
6. Nars Lip Gloss in Super Orgasm, Sephora, $27
7. Ballet Flat, Sage via Dealuxe, $55
8. Essie nail polish in Boat House, London Drugs, $10
9. Embellished sandals, Oasis, $46

A Happy Home

I am always looking for interior decorating ideas online. Whether it's a bathroom with pink details, chic bedrooms (varying between luxurious and country-like aesthetic), or rustic but polished kitchens, there are so many ideas that make me excited about becoming a home owner one day. It's a far off dream for me right now. I mean, I'm still stuck in a one year lease in my current apartment, but that's just it - it's a DREAM, and it's always fun to draw inspiration for the future!

I created a collage of smaller pieces I would like to see in my home, too. My mom received a KitchenAid mixer, and it is so easy to use and makes whipping up double (or triple) batches of baked goods a snap! Plus, there's nothing better than measuring out all your ingredients in pretty pink measuring tools! Additionally, I'm a huge candle fan. If I could buy every delicious smelling candle in the world, I definitely would! I wonder if it's a girl thing... Comfortable chairs and Victorian-inspired mirrors are so lovely, too. I actually purchased a similar mirror at Ikea before Christmas for my apartment, and it's a nice touch to the otherwise dull white walls! Likewise, adding fresh flowers to your decorations add a real "homey" feeling, I think. I remember having fresh flowers basically at every occasion at home, and it just makes you feel a lot happier having a burst of colour! Finally, there's nothing better than tea. I am a huge tea fan, and you can never have too many mugs! Especially if it's a Tiffany's & Co. mug!

Hope you are all having a good weekend!

Four Trends

Feminine

Party

Casual

Edgy

I made these looks almost a month ago as part of a blogger collaboration. I did four looks, she did four looks. Look forward to the next four tomorrow!

What is everyone doing on this Thursday afternoon? So far my day has consisted of transforming into a sweaty mess after an hour long work out (why, oh WHY did I shower before!?), making a veggie-packed lunch, watching cooking shows & now updating my blog. Not too exciting, but I'm thinking about baking something now. How inspiring are cooking shows? It seems that food and fashion go hand in hand (think Cupcakes & Cashmere blog).

Hope you're all doing well! Let me know what you think of these looks :)

Ultimate Girly Girl

Ultimate girly girl
Ultimate girly girl by HLDFashion

Since I have been stuck in bed all day eating Premium Plus crackers and browsing the internet, I thought I would make a new set on Polyvore. Perhaps I did this girly evening look because I have been lounging around, or perhaps it was to give you all something more than a poor-Holly-is-sick post to read today. You guys deserve something more fun and exciting! Plus, styling outfits as I lay here with my laptop has had a surprisingly uplifting effect on my mood. However, I may be imagining this considering how tired I am (blame it on the chamomile tea), or because I can sleep in tomorrow without the worry of being well enough to haul my lazy/sick/tired ass off to work. Nevertheless, my fingers are crossed for a quick recovery, and I will see you all tomorrow!

What do you rely on to boost the recovery process when you're feeling icky sicky!?

Holly xoxo
