For the Love of Lace

Every girly girl loves her lace! Not only is it unbelievably feminine and pretty, but including lace in your outfit also adds the element of texture to your ensemble. You can find almost anything in lace now: shorts, skirts, dresses, pants, and it is a fabric that remains appropriate and chic in any season. Whether you dress it up for a night out, wear it on a date with a special someone, or dress it down for a coffee date with friends, lace is so versatile and can easily be incorporated into an outfit. Likewise, you can find accessories such as shoes, clutches, and necklaces (to name a few) wrapped in lace. Finally, Lace is timeless, classic, and beautiful. After all, there is nothing more lovely than a lady in lace!

Busy

1. Delicious yam fries
2. Equally (if not more) delicious oatmeal: cinnamon, vanilla, banana, fresh blueberries & a touch of coconut milk.
3 & 4. A gorgeous rosy pink polish.
5. Taking pictures in my car before work.
6. No, I don't enjoy brushing my hair.
7. Happy birthday to my dad (August 26th)!
8. The best parents in the world. I am truly blessed!
9. An indoor Bonsai tree! It was a gift from my team at work & I am so excited for it!
10. Quick bathroom snap shot (I knew you guys missed these) before heading for lunch + shopping with my friend Sheridan. Unpictured American Eagle skinny jeans, Joe Fresh navy blue tank, Smart Set striped cardigan & gifted scarf.

I apologize for not posting that often. My life has been consumed with working & trying to catch up with people and pack my things before I head off to Vancouver. When is that happening? This weekend. My last day of work is tomorrow & I'll have a few days off before I go to the big city. I am nervous, excited, hopeful and ready, all at the same time.

Pretty Details

Good afternoon everyone! I'm comin' at ya with a quick post. As I got dressed this morning, I could hear the rain pouring outside. I knew it would be a cold, dreary day, so I wanted to make things a little prettier with my clothing. Simple details like a silky bow on a plain black t-shirt instantly up the cuteness factor, as do studded bangles and a made for Spring flower pin in your hair!

What do YOU do to "pretty up" your outfit?

Also check out the first item in my new HLD Fashion Shop! I have never done something like this before, so it's a cool new little addition to my blog. Hopefully once more "stock" comes in from the wonders of my closet, you guys will be finding some treasures! The store is linked below:

Beauty Favourites

I didn't have a good outfit to show you guys today; in fact, I even left the house in some white and grey plaid pajama pants and Ugg boots with a top knot on my head. Not so fashion forward today, but it's one of those days, it seems like. My mind is going a mile a minute thinking about things: jobs, money, moving out, and of course I worry about all these things. I'm a worry wart at heart, and today it's definitely getting the best of me. Luckily I indulged in a delicious chocolate cupcake left over from my sister's birthday, although it didn't solve everything. It made things better for about five minutes though! Anyway! Enough sad talk. On to the goods.

1. This is my favourite leave-in conditioner! It has a fresh citrus scent (think hot lemon tea or a lemon dessert, but better), and it gives your hair lots of shine. Also, when you brush your hair out with a wide tooth comb, it makes it easy to get the tangles out while nourishing our hair at the same time.

2. Burts Bees lip balm in pomegranate - it gives your lips a hint of berry shine while making them super soft and smooth! NYC Powder Foundation - I like this because you can layer it for the desired coverage. Sometimes I'll use a bit more, while other times I'll use a bit less. No matter how much you use, I find it blends well and hides any imperfections. Eyelash curler - I didn't always use an eye lash curler, but I am glad I do now! It's surprising how much it actually does make you look more awake and put together.

3. My favourite brushes! I have been starting a little collection of make up brushes, but these ones are my favourite. The wooden one in the middle is made by Eco Tools, and I use it for buffing on my NYC Powder Foundation. The blush brush to the right is by Joe Fresh, and the other two eyeshadow brushes are Joe Fresh as well. Brandon's mom got me a brush set by Joe, and I am in love! It also came with a fantastic liner brush.

4. The Body Shop is known for it's yummy scents, but I totally forgot they sold perfumes! I originally smelled this one on a strip of ribbon (for testers), but I didn't buy it then. I kicked myself for not purchasing it, though one day I was at The Body Shop in a little plaza mall in Victoria and it was on sale. I'm not positive what the original price is on this perfume, but I ended up getting it for something like $13.00, which was good for me!

5. Aveeno - This is the only lotion that seems to be *OKAY* for my stupidly sensitive skin! It's gentle, and I don't get any bad reactions from it. I've been using it for years! Dove deodorant - In Energize. I basically just like the smell of this, although it honestly does protect sweating and all that yucky armpit business. Crest 3D White - I've gotten quite a few compliments on how white my teeth are. "Do you use white strips!?" Nope! I use Crest 3D White tooth paste. It really is as good as the commercial makes it sound!

Happy Thursday everyone! Hope it was a good one for you!

Black Ruffles

Just a quick post for you guys!

Current outfit I'm liking: Emma Roberts' casual yet cute look at a Sundance interview by MTV this year. Her hair is simple, yet neat, and I can't get enough of that jacket! What do you guys think of this look? Would you wear it?

Current outfit of today: I snapped a super quick picture before I went to work this morning. It's a long sleeved black shirt with a large ruffle detail on the top there. It kind of swirls in to look like a flower (or I think it looks like one, anyway)! I wore it with a pair of simple black dress pants and black patent flats. Nothing too fancy for waitressing!

The shirt is by Joe Fresh

I woke up this morning at 6:40 AM, because Brandon had to start work early. I told myself that I would have a quick little bite to eat (which ended up to be veggies and dip before 7 AM... Interesting), check my favourite blogs, and then sleep for a little bit longer. I ended up munching down my veggies & dip, catching up on every single blog in my "Fashion Blogs" folder online, showering, playing on my laptop some more, and finally getting dressed and having the rest of my breakfsat (which was a Kashi honey flax cereal, delicious). I love waking up early when I have nothing to do that day, because it seems as if they day just slowly goes by. However, the day went by pretty fast until now. It's 7 o'clock, and I am dead tired. Today just feels like it's taking forever now!

Hope you all have a good night!

Holly xoxo

Touring Town

1. Details on the gold studded bangle I wore to work today. I'm not exactly sure where it's from, to be honest. My guess is Claires, but I'm probably wrong!

2. Gap sweater, dress by Baila, Joe Fresh black tights.

3. Zipper right down the front! Funny, because the sweater I wore yesterday had a zipper on the back!

4. My favourite store in town is the last sign there. It's the Health Food Store! I bought a bunch of seeds today! Ground chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, and sunflower seeds. Now I just need some natural PB, so I can make some oatmeal! I love me some oats.

5. This little garden area is nestled in behind some of the retail that lines the streets. I worked at a little restaurant back here last summer. It's seasonal, and a lot of people from the theatre would go there for lunch.

6. Entrance to the "Secret Garden," as the sign calls it. Not so secret, though.

7. Details on the candy store's window frame.

8. Hansel & Gretel's Candy Co! It smells divine in here, and it holds lots of yummy sweets!

9. I walked up and down this path a couple times today. First just going for a walk, and the second to drop off a deposit at the bank for work. There is a playground in that shape of a ship to the side, and a stage on the left side that is usually occupied by local musicians in the spring & summer time.

10. Water Wheel Park! Unfortunately the water wheel was OUT of water for the winter (I assume that's why), so the name is somewhat deceiving. Tricky.

I hope you all had a great Tuesday! It's finally my Friday, and I'm so ready for it! Brandon and I are planning on staying in tonight, but I suggested that we rent some movies so our night is at least somewhat exciting! There's also a sticky note on my laptop to remind me to go for a run. I know I definitely have to when I get home (in 20 minutes!) because I skipped out on it yesterday. Fortunately I don't mind running, but last night it just seemed like a chore. That won't be the case tonight!

Lemon and Leopards

This tea saved me today - Lemon ginger tea, and I have had SEVERAL cups of it. Cold, be gone!

Hard at work trying to focus on an aromatherapy course I'm taking. I managed to finish a lot of the multiple choice questions, but I'm not even have done. It's kind of confusing, to be honest!

I got this bag for Christmas from my aunt (I swear I've mentioned that before, too). I absolutely love it! It's one that you'd carry on your arm, but man can you ever fit stuff inside! I had EVERYTHING in there today - books, two pairs of gloves, wallet, hand cream, chapstick, pens, etc. etc. Yeah, it was a good gift!

Skinny jeans: Pashu, Oxford flats: Joe Fresh, Scarf: Gifted (it was a stocking stuffer this Christmas), Shirt: Smart Set, Cardigan: Suzy Shier

There is only one thing that is clogging my Facebook feed tonight: The fact that Jersey Shore is on. Are you watching it? And more importantly, are you doing something more productive?

I hope you all had a wonderful Thursday! It's crazy that this week is almost over. For some reason, it seems to be going by faster than usual. Perhaps it's because I have worked (and will be tomorrow and Saturday, which deems the end of my work week), or perhaps it's because I have been lounging on the couch with a horrible head cold (or whatever this awful illness is!) watching TV. It's amazing how fast time flies when you aren't paying attention. Suddenly it was 11 o'clock this morning, and I was still in my pajamas - work in T minus an hour and a half! Luckily I only work five minutes away, and getting dressed was a breeze, because I was aiming for something comfy yet (somewhat) cute and had the outfit in mind.

I have an idea for what I'm going to post about tomorrow, and no, it's not about how I watched Jersey Shore tonight (although I see that in my future if I don't go to the gym tonight... WHICH I SHOULD)!

Good night!

Holly xoxo
