Silver Springs

Spring is all about bright colours and pastels, but I think it's fun to mix in a bit of silver in there as well. You can be happy to know that silver is (basically) considered a neutral - without the sheen it's basically grey! I was searching online and compiled a list of pictures, all incorporating silver, and one special picture (numero 2) with my favourite make up look for the Spring 2012 season - CLEAN! So fresh and so clean, clean.

1. Silver on the fingers, silver on the wrists. I love how silver jewelry looks stacked up against black & brown leather. Also, the chunkier, the better! Watches will help do the trick.
2. Clean make up! Light lips and cheeks paired with dewy skin. Ahh, if only the winter weather would stop wreaking havoc on my poor skin!
3. Hair cuffs. How genius is this? I remember when wrapping a strand of hair around your ponytail was so cool. I mean, it still is, but a hair cuff in silver takes it up a notch.
4. Geometric jewels gives an automatic dose of edge to your outfit. Sure, we've seen studs before (especially on denim. It's everyone's favourite DIY apparently), but I particularly like them on rings and necklaces.
5. An oversized envelope clutch + silver = accessory heaven.

Are you a silver or a gold girl?

The Tangerine Trend

Tangerine is the it colour for Spring, and besides adding it to your wardrobe through colour blocking and accessories, you can incorporate it into your make up bag, too! One of the biggest make up trends on the runway was a bright tangerine lip. Whether you go for a subtle coral tone or a bright, punchy orange, any tangerine is a dream this season & it works well with every skin tone. The best thing? You can treat yourself to a splash of tangerine without breaking the bank. You can find lots of options at your local drugstore! Here are some examples to help you find your perfect shade!

1. Maybelline Coral Fever, $8
2.  MAC So Chaud, $14.50
3. MAC Morange, $14.50
4. Revlon Siren, $10

Holiday Sparkle: Make Up Time!

Hi everyone! So now that you have your dress, shoes, & jewelry, it's time for your make up!
I searched through some of my favourite YouTube bloggers & created a Holiday-inspired tutorial roundup for you all. I love all of these looks, and I hope to incorporate them into my Christmas-esque looks!

I chose these three because they are easy to follow and incorporate so many Christmas colours. Gold, silver, cranberry, and anything sparkly is always fun to add to your Holiday look for a glamorous feel. Although I am not too adventurous with my make up choices (I'm a neutral or nothing kind of girl, but I DID just purchase red lipstick... How daring, hey?), Christmas is a fun excuse to experiment a little. Besides, it's always fun to watch the tutorials and having a guideline when you're doing something new is so helpful!

Which look would YOU pick for Christmas?

Instant Fun with Instagram

I wanted to share with you all the latest snaps from Instagram! I have way too much fun with this application on my phone, and I am already at over 400 photos on my little iPhone! Crazy how they all accumulate, but I'm the kind of person who wants to take pictures of EVERYTHING. It drives Brandon crazy, but as my mom says, "I'm making memories!"

Here's the latest! My Instagram username is HLDFashion - easy to remember!

1. Benefit goodies from a staff sale at work. Erase paste & Eyecon eye cream are quickly becoming favourites! I also picked up a mini sample of NARS firming foundation that I have yet to try, and the Shu Uemura lipstick (at the top) is so pretty and SO moisturizing. I love it!
2. Blo Blow-Dry Bar post cards at The Style Spy x The Gap shopping event.
3. Holiday treat for Christmas shopping.
4. Mannequins styled with pieces from The Gap by The Style Spy team.
5. Lauren & myself at the shopping event.

Hope you all have a lovely day! If you are on Instagram, leave me a comment with your username & chances are you will have a new follower! ;)

Shopping Finds and a Video!

Yes, here is an awkward video of me sharing my finds from The Style Spy shopping event! Stay tuned tomorrow for pictures of the event.

Have a great day everyone! Let me know if you have any suggestions for future video blogs. I am terribly new to it, and it feels strange talking to my computer!

What's in My Make Up Bag?

I thought it would be fun to do a What's in My Make Up Bag? post! I see them all over YouTube from beauty gurus, so I thought it would be interesting to put one on my blog. Let's get started.
I mostly use the two make up bags above. The bright printed bag is from Clinique and came with one of their gift with purchase events in September. This is where the bulk of my make up is housed.

I found this Betsey Johnson traveling make up bag last year around Christmas time. It is perfect because although it looks like a clutch, it folds out and has several compartments. This is easy to pop into my purse instead of having things like concealer & pressed powder running loose in my purse (where they always seem to leak!), and it is easy to wipe clean as well.

I try not to wear a full face of make up every day. However, sometimes it's hard to just go out bare faced, so I will usually put on at least face powder and maybe a bit of blush to give myself a rosy feel.
Products here:
CoverGirl Clean Liquid Make Up in 505 Ivory
Maybelline Concealer in 20 Sand
NYC Smooth & Natural Matte Powder Foundation in 731U Urban Light
ELF Golden Bronzer Compact - Love this!
MAC Baked Blush in Warm Soul
Brushes by EcoTools, Joe Fresh & POSH.

I used to own a ton of eye shadows, but I downsized my collection to ones that I wear most often. However, I love my Coastal Scents 88 Color Eye Shadow Palette for days when there is a fun event happening & I want to add a pop of colour to my eye make up. Plus, the neutral shades in this palette are nice as well. It is totally versatile!

Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo: Daybreak (super shimmer)
& (single shade from) Teddy Bear quad
MAC Eye Shadow in Woodwinked
Brushes: Joe Fresh, POSH

Like eye shadow, I used to buy mascara like crazy. Actually, there is one I can think of right now that I would like to buy again & that's Revlon's Grow Luscious Mascara (in the metallic green tube). I often go for the blackest of black when it comes to colour. These three are my favourites right now:

Maybelline Lash Stiletto in Soft Black
Diorshow Black Out in 099
Maybelline Great Lash Curled Brush in Very Black

Last but not least, lips! I could buy hundreds of lip products and still not have enough. I usually go for pink tones when it comes to lipsticks & glosses, although I need to find the perfect shade of red!

Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Glosses - gifted (tag has worn off). However, I have one in my car and I know for sure that the name is Strawberry Fizz.
Revlon Lipstick in Heather Shimmer
Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain & Balm in Adoration
Clinique double ended lipstick & mascara. Lipstick is 62 Tenderheart
Mini Clinique Lip Gloss: Sticker has worn off :(
Burts Bees Chapstick in Pomegranate. It is SO moisturizing. I could not live without it!

I'm a Barbie Girl

The Halloween costume preparation begins!

Wearing Bebe by Zoya. Barbie = bright pink, light pink, hot pink, any pink!

The fake eyelash fun begins! Then, onto some make up...

Last minute Barbie costume for class. It was fun playing dress up, and even more fun being a plastic blonde bombshell for an evening! The fake eyelashes and experimenting with pink make up was fun, too!

Hope you had a Happy Halloween! xoxo

Lipstick Jungle

Spring is here, and that means bright colours and fun prints in the world of fashion & beauty. Looking for an easy way to add a pop of colour to your outfit? Sure, nail polish is a great option, but on days where you don't have your nails done & peep toes aren't an option, swipe on a fabulous lip colour to brighten up your ensemble!

Cheap vs. Steep:

1. Revlon - Kiss Me Coral - $8.99 in drugstores

2. MAC - Pink Friday - $14.50-$16.00 at The Bay & MAC boutiques world wide.

3. Chanel - Provocative - $32.00 in various department stores.

Pizza & pashmina

1. Purchases of the day: Jelly belly jelly beans for a whopping TWENTY SIX CENTS! Annabelle liquid eyeliner in blackest black - I love this stuff because it has the felt tipped end, not a little brush that frays after use. I also bought a pair of tweezers. I cheaped out here, because I couldn't justify on spending $14.99 on a pair of tweezers that I'll lose. However, we use the more expensive tweezers at work and your eyebrows are perfection (unless they're getting waxed, since that's even quicker and just as good)!

2. Mixing up some pizza dough! Comfort food is the best food.

3. Details of my scarf. I bought this at an accessory party I had at my house, and today was the first time I've ever worn it.

4. Just boring ol' me! I'm wearing a shirt by old navy, Pashmina scarf, and not pictured were my Pashu skinny jeans (yeah, default bottoms for me), and Roxy fabric moccasins.

5. Delicious tea - almost like apple cider, but less calories and not as delicious (maybe a little more yummy, I suppose...)

I got a text at work today that said there was a job opening downtown at a restaurant called Odika. Coincidentally I had a resume in my car from when I went job hunting previously this week, so I dropped it off :) I hope something comes out of this! Tips sure would be nice. They'd definitely go to my Jeffrey Campbell shoe fund (or a shopping fund in general).

After work, I got home, curled my hair and winged out my liquid liner - to go BOWLING! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from the rock n' glow bowling adventure. If you've ever been, stare at the lights that move on the floor. Crazy, right!?

I hope you all have a fabulous night. Did anyone get up to anything exciting?

Holly xoxo
