What's Making You Happy?

Today was one of those days where the good stuff just wouldn't stop happening. I mean, it has been a great week leading up to this wonderful day, but it's kind of funny how so many fun/exciting things can all happen in the span of... Maybe ten hours or so?

Currently making me happy (in no particular order!):

- Spending New Years with my beautiful sister & spending time with her shopping and hanging out!
- Waking up & having caramel coffee and pumpkin spice oatmeal. Healthy comfort food at its best.
- New perfume from my wonderful boyfriend. I seriously cannot stop smelling myself when I wear this perfume, which I'm sure looks silly to those around me. In all seriousness, it's delicious!
- Stacks of magazines. There's more where that came from!
- Brand new running socks, fuzzy socks, and pink plaid flannel pajamas!
- Successful job interview! I think I am MOST excited about this.
- Chocolate, although the Christmas chocolate pile is slowly dwindling down (probably for the best).
- Half marathon training. Legs. Are. So. Sore!

Hope you all are enjoying the first few days of 2012 as much as I am!

Holiday Sparkle: The Outfit

Deciding on the perfect Holiday dress or outfit can be one of the most difficult tasks a girl can have if she's looking to impress at a Holiday party. Employers often have Christmas parties, and it's important to look festive and classy, especially if you are going as a guest. Here are a few of my picks to make a great impression during the Holidays.

1. Jacob Lace Corset Dress ($99). This lovely dress also comes in red. The great thing about a little black dress is you can wear it again, and again! It is a classic investment piece, and fortunately this one won't break the bank! I would pair this with minimal accessories (maybe a delicate bracelet & diamond earrings) and a pair of glitter heels.

2. Delicate fabrics - Delicate fabrics such as silk look so pretty with some extra sequins. If you are not feeling a totally sequined shirt, I would wear one with minimal sparkle but still lots of details (think bows and nice draping & pin tucking). Having a piece in a simple color such as blush, white, or even black is still kept Holiday appropriate with the correct accessories. Plus, it is ultra feminine and transcends into future seasons.

3. Marc Jacobs Draped Black Tube Dress. Okay, so this one isn't as budget friendly as the Jacob dress (#1), so check your local Holt Renfrew or other luxury department stores for their price. My guess is at the very least, $1000.00. What I love about this dress is that you can make it as glamorous or as simple as you wish. A Breakfast at Tiffany's style necklace (lots of pearls) and a swirled bun on the top of your head would look classic and chic, or you could pair it with a deep red lip, great shoes & diamonds for a look that is ultra-glam!

4. The Olsen Twins - take a look at the clothing that these iconic twins wear day to day. I love the lace detailing on the sleeves of Mary Kate's black dress. It adds texture, and lace is definitely appropriate for the Holidays. Similarly, a printed dress like Ashley's allows you to focus more on your hair and make up rather than accessories. Prints certainly speak for themselves! Their bold lip is wonderful, too.

5. Last but not least, sequin overload! I have been seeing skirts in several stores that are fixed with sequins of all shapes and sizes. If you have a big Holiday party coming up (such as a girls' night or a casual Holiday dinner with friends & family), feel free to be more adventurous. Royal blue and ink blue especially are a lovely contrast against the usual reds & greens of the Holiday season. However, when you have such a flashy & fun dress, you can keep your accessories and shoes simple. You want to avoid looking like a Christmas tree (as pretty as some of them are)!

Christmas Wishes: Marc Jacobs

Since Christmas is only a mere 32 days away, I have started to compile a Christmas list for Brandon & my mom. Although most things are fairly pricey (I don't expect to get one, if any, of the 5 Tiffany's necklaces on my list!), there are several things on the list that are under fifty dollars (we are not looking at the things above, folks!). I'm talking the necessities - socks, underwear, pajama pants, tootbrush, etc. Or in other words, the (somewhat) boring things you KNOW you will be getting! Luckily I don't mind that at all. A brand new pair of socks, especially fuzzy ones, are so cozy & even BETTER if they celebrate the Holiday season. Snowman socks, anyone?

I wanted to slowly start sharing with you some merchandise on my Christmas list. I will be dividing it according to brand (if there is a certain grouping of items from the same brand) or by subject. This will keep it a little more organized & easier to reference... For all of you super star readers out there. Wink wink!

I kept it to the main bag I want & all the fragrances of his that I love. I would be a very happy girl if I could have EVERYTHING from the Marc by Marc Jacobs line (who wouldn't!?), but for now, I will slowly start to build the collection!

1. Black leather "Natasha" bag, Marc by Marc Jacobs
2. Daisy by Marc Jacobs
3. Lola by Marc Jacobs
4. Oh, Lola! by Marc Jacobs

Have you started making your Christmas list? If so, what are some of your most-wanted items?

Fashion Notes: Fashionable Faces

Fashion Notes is introducing Fashionable Faces, a collection of ten posters with famous fashion faces that "resonate with fashion lovers all over the world." They have a cool 1960's Andy Warhol pop-art look to them with colours inspired by the designer's collection and personality. Each poster measures 11.75"x15" and are priced at $30 within Canada & US (international delivery is $52). I think these are a fun way to add some colour and flare to your office space, bedroom, or any space that needs some revamping.

Above are my favourites!

Sunday Inspiration

The things that inspire me most are filled with art. Art is everywhere - on the internet, outside, around the house, in the sky, in the air, the person next to you... The possible ways to be inspired are endless. Here are some pictures that are inspiring me this Sunday.

New Year's Eve Eve!

Marc Jacob's quilted chain purses. Found at Holt Renfrew - retails for approx. $595.00 CDN.

Christian Louboutin black patent pumps... Classic, sexy, and a staple in every woman's wardrobe! Unfortunately, however, they have yet to walk their way into my wardrobe. One day, I tell you! One day!

Chloe's Belladone sunglasses - Holt Renfrew, approx. $325.00 CDN. As I was scouring the mall yesterday, I was trying on sunglasses and came to the conclusion that rounded frames with a slight cat-eye effect were most flattering for my heart shaped face. Also, WhoWhatWear.com reports that cat-eye sunglasses are flattering for almost ALL face shapes.

And yet another Marc Jacob's quilted chain purse. It looks so sweet and effortlessly feminine, with a light, creamy pink colour and the added glamour of gold hardware. One day (there I go with the ONE DAY phrase again!) I will own one (and it's twin sister Chanel).

Have a great night all! See you tomorrow :)

Love, Holly :)

On the Hunt

I bought this for my boyfriend today. I had seen it on the Holt Renfrew website for $75.00, and although I would've shelled out the money for it at that price, I found it for a wicked deal at London Drugs after I had been job hunting (a little ironic, no?).

Madden girl by Steve Madden leopard print pumps. They are ridiculously comfortable! The polish I'm wearing on my toes is Ruby by Zoya.

Blue long sleeve shirt, Smart Set. Dark skinny jeans, Pashu. Jacket, (I forget the brand - oops!), Heels, Madden girl by Steve Madden.

Necklace, SheShe accessories, and details of my jacket :)

Now, I'm debating whether or not I should give B the cologne set when he gets home tomorrow, or wait... I was originally thinking of purchasing it for Valentine's Day, but that is so far away! What do you guys think?

Hope you're having a wonderful day! I'm lounging in bed watching Sex & the City (of course).

Love, Holly!
