Brighten Up With Kate Spade

Spring may be a tad bit far off (although the first week of January has already flown by!), but it doesn't mean you can't look forward to the upcoming season. In fact, there are lots of fun trends coming up this season, and one of my favourites is the introduction of COLOUR again! Winter is all about darker colours - rightly so, they go with the season, but spring is fresh & fun! One thing I love to do is mixing bright hues into my wardrobe through accessories, and with cute pieces like these from Kate Spade, you can brighten any room with a burst of style.

Additionally, Kate Spade also offers a wide variety of other accessories such as necklaces and bracelets that are filled with personality. There certainly is something for everyone in this brand (hello, there is even a Jack Spade for all the fashion forward men in the world), whether you are looking for a simple black bag to go with everything or a punchy pink bag tied with a bow (my personal favourite, above).

Happy shopping, everyone! xo

Tales of Recent Fortune

This month has been great as far as luck & fortune is concerned! What a perfect time to have this winning streak, as Christmas is a mere eight days away (can you believe it!?), and it always feels good to have happiness come your way around this time! I wanted to share with you some happy things that have happened to me lately!

1. I finally splurged (slightly) and bought myself a Cambridge Satchel. I have been drooling over this large size purple satchel at work for weeks now, and I figured it would be a nice Christmas present to myself that ALSO gets the whole shopping bug out of my system for a while (yeah, I say that now..).

2. Every week work has been doing something different as far as treats and staff-celebrations are concerned. One week we had free cupcakes, this week we had a potluck, and there is pizza & other goodies coming up throughout the month! I snagged a mini gingerbread cupcake that was "gone in 60 seconds," but in my case, inhaled in .5!

3. I won this lovely red cocktail ring from Social Experiment (search her on Etsy, absolutely beautiful pieces!) through the blog Belle Epoque 21. Thank you, lovely ladies, for this prize! I'm wearing it now!

4. Some days call for cozy flannel. I had this hidden away in the bottom drawers of my dresser, and while I was frantically trying on outfits and throwing clothes on the floor this morning, it dawned on me that I hadn't worn this shirt in a while. I actually found it at a local thrift store in my hometown, and it is so warm and cozy (perfect for the cold office/weather since I am closing at work tonight). Top it off with a high ballerina bun and some bow earrings, and I'm good to go. That is, after I finish my coffee.

Have a lovely weekend everyone! Do you have your Christmas shopping ready? It's sneaking up fast!

Bag Lovin'

1. Fendi: Love the rich colour and addition of gold hardware. Usually I'm a silver gal, but slowly I've been learning to love that gold is great, too!

2. Hermes: Aahh, Hermes! How beautiful you are. This gorgeous blue bag is an excellent statement piece and is just the right amount of POP to an outfit.
3. Louis Vuitton & Celine: Classic, chic, and so lovely!

I wanted to share a couple pictures of some bags I have been drooling over lately. If only I could walk into my closet and have all of them right there waiting for me! A girl can dream.

What kind of purse are you using right now?

Cambridge Charm

Current purse on my to-buy list: The Cambridge Satchel.

They are so colourful, fun, and come in a great selection of colours. If you are looking for a basic, safe bag, you probably won't be opting for any of these bright colours (although you can go with the classic style satchel for neutral hues). However, I absolutely love the fluoro line & hope to be purchasing it soon!

I love how you can add it to a single-toned outfit to add a pop of colour, yet you can also use it for colour blocking in your outfit. I know I am jumping the gun here since it is still winter, but a girl can dream for sunny days filled with colour and spring fashion! I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Christmas Wishes: Marc Jacobs

Since Christmas is only a mere 32 days away, I have started to compile a Christmas list for Brandon & my mom. Although most things are fairly pricey (I don't expect to get one, if any, of the 5 Tiffany's necklaces on my list!), there are several things on the list that are under fifty dollars (we are not looking at the things above, folks!). I'm talking the necessities - socks, underwear, pajama pants, tootbrush, etc. Or in other words, the (somewhat) boring things you KNOW you will be getting! Luckily I don't mind that at all. A brand new pair of socks, especially fuzzy ones, are so cozy & even BETTER if they celebrate the Holiday season. Snowman socks, anyone?

I wanted to slowly start sharing with you some merchandise on my Christmas list. I will be dividing it according to brand (if there is a certain grouping of items from the same brand) or by subject. This will keep it a little more organized & easier to reference... For all of you super star readers out there. Wink wink!

I kept it to the main bag I want & all the fragrances of his that I love. I would be a very happy girl if I could have EVERYTHING from the Marc by Marc Jacobs line (who wouldn't!?), but for now, I will slowly start to build the collection!

1. Black leather "Natasha" bag, Marc by Marc Jacobs
2. Daisy by Marc Jacobs
3. Lola by Marc Jacobs
4. Oh, Lola! by Marc Jacobs

Have you started making your Christmas list? If so, what are some of your most-wanted items?

Ladylike

1. Quilted clutch, Forever 21, $24.80

2. Puff sleeve dress, Forever 21, $22.80

3. Silver and pearl bracelets, Forever 21, $10.80

4. Nude patent oxfords, Forever 21, $17.80

5. Sheer floral tunic, Forever 21, $17.80

As I was browsing one of my favourite (and affordable!) websites, I got an idea for a blog post. All of these items are so lady like and so perfect for the upcoming spring season. Although spring is calling for neutrals and a minimal approach when it comes to colours, the nude oxfords and feminine bracelets can accessorize anything and bring a personal twist to those neutral hues. I especially like the quilted purse - it will fill the void of a designer quilted purse, until that day comes! In addition, the puff sleeve dress would look good with any of these items. Accessorize it with the casual oxfords and a cardigan for day, then slip on a pair of strappy heels and pile on the bracelets for some added evening glamour. All of this online browsing is making me want to shop!

Inspiration

1. I love the look of striped shirts with tough accessories like a studded purse. It's like nautical meets the tough girl trend that was all over this summer (think florals with tough girl boots).

2. A pop of bright blue in the form of a Prada bag plus loads of fur is unexpected yet fun. I have been looking into faux fur jackets, but I can never find one that I like that doesn't look A) cheap or B) monstrous.

3. These shoes are either legit Miu Miu platforms or the ones by Forever 21. Nevertheless, I have been looking at these for quite a while, and I have decided that I need some (preferably the Miu Miu ones, but I won't complain if I end up with the F21 ones)!

4. This picture is similar to the first in that it pairs casual clothes with studded accessories. Another note: I want my hair this long, and go for a hair cut tonight. This is a big deal considering I haven't had it cut since JULY - no trims, no nothing - and my hair needs it if it's going to grow long & strong, baby!

5. Audrey Hepburn. I honestly think she is the epitome of perfect. I have watched Breakfast at Tiffany's so many times in the past three days it's a little sick. Granted, I haven't watched every single second of it each and every time since I have either been blogging or talking to someone, but it's been my go-to background noise while I'm working away. I want to go to Breakfast at Tiffany's (and wear a perfect Givenchy dress)!

I hope you are all having a great day! After work, around 4 o'clock yesterday, snow flakes were starting to fall from the sky. Why is it beginning to feel a lot like Christmas NOW and not around the actual holidays!? Erg. Anyway, it continued snowing throughout the night and now we have probably over a foot of snow on the ground! I told my dad he has to drive me to my hair appointment since my car is buried in the snow. At least the snow plow has gone by!

Sunny Sundays

1. I have been looking for a pair of boots like these, and although I have seen them in different variations, none of them really jump out at me enough to buy them. The moody black hues in this picture remind me of a rainy day. It's sunny here, but sometimes a rainy day brings out great fashion!

2. I LOVE this sweater. Slouchy enough for effortless style and comfort, and I could totally see myself wearing it with some leggings or dark skinny jeans in the colder weather (with a pair of killer shoes, obviously). Any leads as to where this is from?

3. I have also been looking for an oversized cardigan for quite a while. This reminds me of a blanket, kind of, and it looks so incredibly cozy! I like the feminine details added in this outfit as well - the lace slip with scalloped edges balances out the whole outfit. I must find one of these!

All pictures above are from weheartit.com!

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday! I have no plans right now, besides wanting to go for a walk and have some left over turkey dinner for lunch! I painted my nails earlier this morning as well (#26 Lovely Lilac by Sally Hansen), and perhaps I'll do my toes later. We'll see how the day progresses!

What are your plans for today? Anything exciting?

Talk to you soon!

New Year's Eve Eve!

Marc Jacob's quilted chain purses. Found at Holt Renfrew - retails for approx. $595.00 CDN.

Christian Louboutin black patent pumps... Classic, sexy, and a staple in every woman's wardrobe! Unfortunately, however, they have yet to walk their way into my wardrobe. One day, I tell you! One day!

Chloe's Belladone sunglasses - Holt Renfrew, approx. $325.00 CDN. As I was scouring the mall yesterday, I was trying on sunglasses and came to the conclusion that rounded frames with a slight cat-eye effect were most flattering for my heart shaped face. Also, WhoWhatWear.com reports that cat-eye sunglasses are flattering for almost ALL face shapes.

And yet another Marc Jacob's quilted chain purse. It looks so sweet and effortlessly feminine, with a light, creamy pink colour and the added glamour of gold hardware. One day (there I go with the ONE DAY phrase again!) I will own one (and it's twin sister Chanel).

Have a great night all! See you tomorrow :)

Love, Holly :)

Shopping haul: pictures!

Grey cotton jacket with studs on it. This baby was only TEN DOLLARS (such a score!), and it is so warm! I was needing a fabric jacket, and I am glad I found one that was definitely budget friendly!

Jacket details (and sneak peeks at my messy bed)

Now, before yesterday, I had been dreaming about this purse and complaining that I hadn't bought it. Sure, I've received three purses this Christmas, plus a fourth I purchased for myself a week before the holidays, but I could not resist! Plus, the price is right, and apparently I'm into the stud details lately... Ah, maybe that's my "something edgy" (re: last post) for my wardrobe.

Quick! Can you spot the Betsey Johnson make up bag? Ha. I am a leopard print fiend - how ferocious! Again, I couldn't resist buying this, because it was marked down to a fantastic price, and although I don't exactly need a make up bag, the lay out of this one is so handy! My friend Lauren also got one in a pink and black Victorian style print. Twinsies!

I am off to print out some resumes. My work situation isn't exactly the greatest, seeing as I will only be working one day a week come January. I can't live off of that, especially with all the shopping...Err, I mean SAVING, that has to be done! I plan on checking out some cute little boutiques downtown Duncan and see what's there. My dad says I should waitress for the tips, but really, where is there to go that I haven't already applied at yet? Sheesh. I thought I was done with the whole job hunting shenanigans!

Have a wonderful day! I already have tomorrow's blog post swirling around in my head. However, I may have to post some other random pictures tonight.

Love, Holly :)
